Samyang Buldak Sauce: Allergens, Storage and How Hot It Is

Buldak sauce is the fiery sauce from Samyang’s Buldak noodles. In Korea it has been sold in its own bottle since late 2018, after a limited edition in 2017.[8] 불닭 means “fire chicken”. In the US, Samyang sells it as Buldak Original Hot Sauce, 200 g (7.05 oz), alongside 2x Spicy and Carbonara versions.[1][7][5]

Two labels, two recipes

The bottle sold in the US and the one sold in the UK carry different ingredient lists. The US label declares wheat, soybean and tree nuts (coconut).[1][2] The UK label declares soy, wheat and celery.[4][3] Read the label on the bottle you buy, especially if you avoid celery or coconut.

The Carbonara sauce’s US label adds milk.[5]

How hot is it?

Samyang’s US sauce pages don’t give a Scoville (SHU) figure, and neither do the store listings we checked, so we don’t quote one.[1][2][4] Samyang describes the 2x Spicy sauce as having “double the heat”.[7]

Label facts

Some stores tag the sauce halal. We couldn’t find that claim on Samyang’s own pages, so we don’t repeat it.
